What kind of resonator? Saying a resonator costs 1 to 2 HP is not meaningful unless you mention what kind. A well designed straight through that works by sound absorbtion flows within a couple of percent (if that much) as well as a straight pipe. Does that cost measurable power?
The reference on how much power is lost is to a true in-line resantator, not a glasspack muffler. Outside of that I have no more information. I never claimed that bit of info was worth a whole lot....
For what it is worth I have been told that the resanator costs 1-2 hp.
